How Did I Start Blogging?
I want to give you a little background on why I started blogging so you can hear my story. I haven’t been blogging for as long as seasoned bloggers, but I love sharing my ideas and tips with you all.
It all started a couple months ago when I had some extra time on my hands, and I was getting bored of cleaning to keep myself busy. My mom kept suggesting starting a blog and writing about what I enjoy and sharing it with others. At first, I thought she was crazy thinking I could have my own blog. Then one day I just said what the heck I’m going to do it.
I now have my very own blog and it is doing great. I still have lots of learning and growing to do before I get to where I want to be, but I am so proud of myself for taking the risk and putting myself out there. I am excited to see where the future takes me and what new ideas I will come up with.
What Do You Need To Start A Blog?
I know this first step can be scary and nerve-racking but trust me it might just be the best decision you will make.
What you will need:
- Computer
- Internet connection
- Email address
These three essentials will be used in every aspect of your blog. If you have a computer, internet connection, and an email address you will be able to start a successful blog. These are the only tools I currently have, and they work great for me.
You will need a website hosting program. I currently use Bluehost where I was able to build my blog from scratch. It is super easy to use and makes your blog function user friendly.
I was skeptical to spend the $50 for Bluehost to create my blog because I was saving for a down payment on a house. Once I took into consideration that if this blog can create a source of income than this $50 expense could ultimately make my saving gain rather than decrease.
Let’s Start Your Blog!
Naming Your Blog
Naming your blog is important because this will be the name that people will search up to find your blog. Your name should be unique but also easy for others to remember. Don’t stress too much because you can always change your domain name if you want to.
If you are having trouble coming up with your domain name, you can always start your blog first before you have a name. You can also use your first or last name as a unique way to customize your blog name.
Sign Up For Website Hosting
First you will want to click here to open Bluehost to set your blog up.
I recommend starting your blog this way because…
- Most affordable to get started. Bluehost is only $35 for the year. This allows you to start a blog with all the necessities for a successful blog. You can always upgrade your subscription once your blog starts to grow.
- Bluehost is the simplest to get started. When signing up for Bluehost they will walk you through step by step on how to set up your website. With Bluehost they make sure to be as helpful as possible, making it very easy to get your website started.
- Fastest to get started. I was able to build my website from the ground up with the help of Bluehost in only 3 weeks. Once you are done finalizing your website you can publish your blog with the click of one button making it very simple.
Starting Your Blog With Bluehost
If you are using this post to create a blog, you will receive a special discount for my audience only from Bluehost.
Bluehost normally starts at $7.99 a month, for you guys it starts at $2.95 a month.
What you get with Bluehost: 1 free domain name, hosting, and more than 50% off.
You can now set up your blog by clicking here.
Finding Your Niche!
Once you have signed up with Bluehost you will need to find your niche to start writing.
For me I found it easiest to start writing for fun and once I realized the topics, I enjoyed the most are the ones I should be writing about. You can also just think about the things or hobbies you do for yourself and start writing about them. Trust me, there are plenty of people out there who enjoy the same things as you.
All In All…
Now that you have a domain name and a hosting site you can start customizing your website, writing blog posts, and sharing your content!!
Please leave your new blog in the comments so I can check it out!
